alumina ceramic casings and housings brazed with titanium
miniaturized alumina ceramic casings and housings for implantable devices (aimds) brazed with titanium

SCT engineers and manufactures custom, biocompatible ceramic casings and windows for AIMDs (active implantable medical devices). These casings (sometimes referred to as housings) operate in two ways. They not only protect the electronics within the device, they also prevent any compounds from leaking into the body. Alumina and zirconia-based ceramic casings offer advantages over traditional titanium or metal-based casings and windows :

  • Allow RF signals to pass through the device.
  • Permits for wireless power transfer

Optimized for form and function

Our ceramic casings are produced using our own alumina and zirconia formulas. Casings are co-developed with our clients, to their unique specifications. Our engineers can accommodate customers whose products require casings with diverse forms, such as tube or cube.

Applications

Our ceramic casings are used across a wide spectrum of active implantable medical devices where biocompatibility and hermeticity are of the upmost importance. These include cardiac, neurostimulation and cochlear markets.
