Ceramic shaping

Manufacturing process :

The manufacturing of technical ceramics insulators from base materials is divided into 4 main operations :

 – Powder preparation :

  • Mixing of powders and additives (ceramics, binders, …)
  • The atomization of powders to make them compatible with our shaping processes

– Shaping ceramics per five different methods :

  • Isostatic pressing
  • Die pressing
  • “Dry Bag” pressing
  • High or low pressure injection molding
  • “Green” machining, which can be a secondary operation to the previous four processes

– Air firing, also called ceramic sintering, performed in dedicated furnaces depending on the type of technical ceramics

– The post-firing grinding and other secondary operations to obtain better geometrical tolerances
