SCT ensures the full management of hermetic feedthroughs for the medical active implant market by controlling the entire manufacturing process. These implantable medical active devices are subject to strict regulations and evaluations before their manufacture and marketing authorization.
Our implantable hermetic feedthroughs transmit electrical current while guaranteeing optimal leak tightness of the case. The electrically conductive pins must not be in direct contact with the metal case and SCT recommends the use of ceramics, sapphires or rubies as biocompatible insulating materials.
SCT manufactures feedthroughs and ceramic casings for active implants using a ceramic to metal high temperature brazing process under controlled atmosphere. This process guarantees hermeticity after brazing. At the same time SCT comply with ISO 13485 and full product traceability requirements.
SCT feedthroughs are 100% helium leak tested in accordance with medical market specifications and standards. SCT is COFREND qualified (=French Confederation for Non-Destructive Testing) for helium leak testing.
Additional tests and controls have been designed and developed to comply with highest possible standards such as thermal shock from -65°C to +200°C as per MIL 202-G or mechanical testing.
Our hermetic feedthroughs, filtered or unfiltered, and implantable housings or casings are integrated in active implants, mainly in cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, pumps, cochlear implants and neurostimulators, such as overactive bladder control.
